ShapeUP! is a group class that is a combination between nutrition and personal training. The only way to get fit and stay fit is to have a healthy diet and a healthy exercise regimen.
ShapeUP! is the only true solution to weight loss - diet and nutritional advice combined with high cardio fat burning exercise.
The nutrition portion includes one 45-minute individual nutritional consultation, where the nutritionist and you discuss your goals, take your weight and measurements, and discuss the necessary adjustments needed in order for success. Participants also receive a weekly 1/2-hour session to gauge your weight-loss progress and hold open discussion on the topic of the day and/or wonderful hands-on exercises to learn the way to healthy eating.
Each class includes an hour of intense aerobic and anaerobic exercise designed and monitored by trainer Elisa Carvalho to burn max calories while toning you to a beautiful body.
The fitness portion is more like a personal training session than group fitness. The exercises are based upon the training principle muscle confusion, creating variety in your training. The reason to use this training principle is to prevent plateaus and keep your muscles growing. Muscles become accustomed to a training program very quickly. By changing your training program, your muscles cannot become used to the exercise. This forces your muscles to grow quicker than with any other training method. Also, you will never get bored with this regimen! We will train the group outdoors as well for variety and fun.

Price: $250 for 8 Weeks or $30 per session. Must buy either 5 or 8 sessions at a time. Sessions must be used consecutively, with one week added to bypass. For example - Buy an 8 week package and you have 9 weeks to use the 8 sessions.
Until recently, no one would have mistaken me as a "regular gym-goer." I've had periods when I've been "good," but they have been rare and somewhat short lived. A year and a half following the birth of my son, I decided it was time to get back into shape and to forge a new, healthy lifestyle. Just as I reached this conclusion, an ad in the paper for "Spring Into Shape" at INTENSITY caught my eye. We were already members of the club and I knew that a structured program would help provide the incentive I needed to stick to my plan. The intensive, eight-week program including nutritional counseling and twice-weekly group fitness sessions with a trainer has exceeded my expectations. My goals of developing a workout habit and loosing a few unwanted pounds along the way have been surpassed. I find myself craving a trip to the gym on a daily basis. The circuits designed for the class have taught me a variety of exercises I can do on my own and I have an understanding of the intensity required during a workout to maintain the level of fitness I have achieved. The weekly weigh-ins that are incorporated into the program have provided an incentive to improve each week and the nutritional counseling has been critical to understanding how making a few minor changes in my food choices can result in healthy new habits for me and my family. The sessions with the trainer are demanding, but always a lot of fun. The group setting makes it more interesting to me than one-on-one training. The friendly competition certainly helped me push myself harder than I would on my own. As a result of the program, I have been going the gym regularly and I have modified my eating habits. My body fat dropped by 13.8% in just 8 weeks and my "skinny clothes" fit me again. Most of all, I have more confidence in my appearance and I feel great! |
